The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has ranked the University of Tehran (UT) among the top 300 in the world.
Iran’s premier university has jumped 101 spots to 295th globally in the January 2023 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities ranking.
Three indicators are affecting the ranking, including Impact Rank, Openness Rank, and Excellence Rank.
The Internet TV of the institution played a vital role in that progress, according to Dr. Sharifi, a lecturer and the head of the digital network.
Sharifi also noted that the social media platforms helped in promoting the university’s website.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to one of the first basic research organizations in Europe.
The Cybermetrics Lab is “devoted to the quantitative analysis of the Internet and Web contents specially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge.”
“This is a new emerging discipline that has been called Cybermetrics or Webometrics,” the website of the ranking system reads.
