Kenyan Memorizer Haitham Sagar Ahmad from Kenya emerged number 3 in the recently concluded 38th edition of Iran’s International Quran Competition at Tehran’s Andisheh Hall . Over 60 reciters and memorizers from 29 countries are competing in the event, which will run until March 5.

A number of senior officials, including Minster of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili and Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Khamoushi, attended the event.

After recitation of the Quran and speeches by a number of officials, the winners of the contest, as well as international Quran competitions for women, school students and visually impaired, were announced.

According to the panel of arbiters, the winners were as follows:

Men’s Section

Recitation:

  1. Hadi Movahed Amin from Iran
  2. Samareddin Samadov from Tajikistan
  3. Ovais Ahmadian from Afghanistan

Tarteel Recitation:

  1. Seyed Hojat Tarahomi from Iran
  2. Hussain Ibrahim from Egypt
  3. Mustafa Zahed from Morocco

Memorization of Entire Quran:

  1. Hissan Muhammad Bakour from Syria
  2. Muhammad Rafat al-Bina from Indonesia
  3. Haitham Sagar Ahmad from Kenya
