In Kenya Shia Muslims gathered yesterday 25th August 2019 at the Parkroad Shia Mosque to celebrate the historic occasion of Ghadeer when Prophet Muhammad PBUH appointed Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib as his successor.

On this day some 14 centuries ago, the first Shia Imam, Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib was appointed by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as his successor.

Imam Ali, who was later martyred, is highly respected for his courage and deep loyalty to the Prophet as well as for administering justice.

Special supplications and speeches were given by Prominent Shia Scholars and the Iranian Cultural Counselor Mr. Mahmoud Majlesain.

praising-eulogies were recited by Children from Riruta Muslim Community and Gachie Shia Community to pay tributes to their beloved Imam and to highlight the importance of Ghadeer.

Ghadeer, also known as Eid al-Akbar, is the day when Muslims believe that the mission of all the previous messengers got accomplished.

In the tenth year of Hijra, Prophet Mohammad received a message from Allah, to stop the pilgrims at a place called Khum near Mecca, and to designate Ali a.s as his successor.
