A research center associated with the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has unveiled a modern thermal imaging system for screening people suspected of having COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus pandemic.

IRGC commanders unveiled the device on Sunday at a ceremony in Tehran’s Baqiyatallah Medical Sciences University (BMSU), a sprawling facility run by the military force and a leading force in the nationwide campaign against the COVID-19.

Reports by the local media said that the electro-optic system, which is equipped with high-precision infrared cameras as well as imaging devices with high resolution, is capable of screening countless number of individuals within its range in a matter of seconds.

The error rate for temperature detection in the system is less than 0.1 degrees Celsius while it can simultaneously detect 50 persons with high fever within a large group of people, said the reports.

Compared to similar devices developed in Iran by either the military forces or the industry, the new thermal imaging cameras can be controlled via smart applications.
